The City of Levelland Health Inspection program is responsible for inspecting Levelland's restaurants and other establishments that serve food. These establishments are inspected either once or three times a year depending on the level of food preparation, as outlined in the Texas Health Code
One annual inspection is required of establishments that serve only packaged food, as well as licensed day care centers and foster homes. Inspections are required at least three times each year for establishments that prepare and serve food, such as privately owned restaurants, grocery stores, and convenience stores. Public institutions preparing and serving food, such as school cafeterias, are also inspected at least three times annually
In order for an establishment to receive its Health Permit it must meet the requirements of the Texas Health Code
for food service establishments. Although not a condition of receiving the Health Permit, establishments are also given a Property Maintenance Inspection based upon requirements from the International Property Maintenance Code.
